Wall Street Journal is offering another niche publication to financial experts. CFO Journal is aimed at chief financial officers, with business news focusing on accounting, corporate governance and tax regulation, among other topics.

Available only via subscription, CFO Journal costs $49 per month, but subscribers to the regular WSJ.com can access the specialized site free until August 1. For that fee, users can also access Factiva SmartSearch and PaidContent writes “Users can also customize news alerts and company profiles for relevant industries and topics, as well as monitor real-time market data.”

Darren McDermott of Wall Street Journal says in a video interview, “What we’ve heard from… CFOs is they don’t have lots of time and a greater appetite reporting on accounting, corporate governance, and other issues they care about, than what we can put in the general paper.”

He adds, “It’s meant to be a specialized product for those who as much as they can get on these issues.”

CFO Journal isn’t WSJ’s first foray into niche publications. It has previously launched Wall Street Journal Professional Edition, DJ FX Trader and Dow Jones Investment Banker.
