Jon Taylor, Senior Director of Content, CTV Digital MediaJon Taylor is Senior Director of Content for CTV Digital Media and is responsible for the acquisition, creation and measurement of CTV’s online content.

Jon most recently worked as an Executive Producer in the Programming and Production departments at CTV and continues to work closely with those groups.

His work creating web-exclusive complementary content for CTV’s digital platforms includes So You Think You Can Dance Canada, The Juno Awards, We Day and The Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Kathy Vey, Editor-in-Chief, OpenFile

Kathy Vey is Editor-in-Chief of OpenFile, Canada’s first collaborative local news site, with outlets in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Hamilton and Waterloo Region.

Before she made the jump online, Kathy killed many trees and held many roles at the Toronto Star, including deputy city editor, news editor, assistant national editor, training and development editor and restaurant critic.

She has also worked for the Ottawa Citizen and the Toronto Sun and written for Canadian Gardening magazine.

Mathew IngramMathew Ingram is an award-winning journalist who has spent the past 15 years writing about business, technology and new media as a reporter, columnist and blogger.

Mathew is currently a senior  writer with the technology blog network GigaOM.

Prior to that, he was a blogger and technology writer for the Globe and Mail newspaper, and was also the paper’s first online Communities Editor, where he helped the paper learn about and appreciate the benefits of social media tools.

Mathew is also one of the founders of mesh, Canada’s leading web conference, and lives in Toronto with his wife, three daughters and two cats.

Jamie Angus, Acting Head of News, BBC World NewsJamie Angus is Acting Head of News at BBC World News, running the Newsroom for the channel day-to-day.

Previously, Jamie was a Commissioner for the BBC’s Global News Division, looking after output across TV, Radio and Online. He has also been Editor of The World at One, BBC Radio 4′s lunchtime news programme, during the period including the 2010 General Election in the UK.

Prior to that, he was Editor of Daytime News Programmes at BBC World Service (English), where the output included the flagship Newshour programme, which is widely re-broadcast by partners in North America.

The first Future of Media event for 2011 is scheduled to take place at the Drake Hotel in Toronto on April 6. Doors open at 7:30 and the event starts at 8 p.m.

We’ll be announcing more details about speakers, prizes and sponsors in the coming weeks, so save the date. As always, Future of Media events are free of charge and dedicated to following the evolution of journalism, news and media.
